What Causes Elevated Potassium Levels In The Blood?
I had routine blood work done Friday and my potassium came back at 5.4. I didn't drink prior to the test since I thought I had to fast water as well. Right before the test I found out I could drink so I drank about 4 ounces of water I know being dehydrated can cause the levels to rise. I have also been eating a banana day and protein shakes once a day or every other day which can cause it to be higher. I want to know what foods to eat to lower the levels

Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor Service.
I reviewed your query and here is my answer.
Your potassium level is normal or you can say on upper normal limit as it is normal up to 5.5. But as you said you do take banana and shake daily which contains high potassium, may be a cause of this. But there is nothing to worry about as this is a normal value.
Hope I have answered your query.
