Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My coworker is 37 yrs old and has not been feeling well for a while. She recently went to a new PCP and had blood work and CT's. The blood work showed elevated Liver enzymes and elevated estrogen levels. She also has lumps in her neck that the dr says are related to her thyroid. Her thyroid numbers were ok. She is having a scan of her thyroid on tues but is putting off the abdominal scan because she thinks it is all related to her thyroid. I am very worried about her. She hasn't been eating because she has no appetite and it makes her feel bloated and nauseated. Is there some information I can give her to help her realize that the liver is more important. Or do you agree with her??
Hi i do care for your concern. The history suggest more of liver disease and hence it is better to go for it first. the increased estrogen levels also points to liver involvement as hormone to some extent gets metabolized here. getting examined for thyroid is also essential, but having normal thyroid values there is no need for emergency thyroid intervention. I would advise To consult your physician and get scan for the abdomen first and get treated for it first. Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask. Thank you.
