Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently had a CBC and metabolic blood panel at the hospital ER and the dr said that my white count was elevated, but when I looked at the total results on my chart there are several numbers that are out of the range. I wonder why he didn t say anything and what the results could mean in relation to my symptoms.
Hello dear Understand your concern. WBC are white blood cells. That are protective in nature. It will increase in case of infection as a protective nature of our body. WBC include: Neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, mpnocyte.
WBC increased in 1. Infcetions: bacterial, mostly neutrophils increased in acute bacterial infection 2. Chronic inflammation stage like Tuberculosis, ulceraative colitis, multiple sclerosis 3. Blood cancer: leukemia 4. Typhoid 5. Lymphoma: lymphocyte is increased 6. Allergy: eosinophil will be increased, helminth infection, worm infection.
Hope this may help you.
