What Causes Elevated Insulin And Cortisol Levels?

I have been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue. I am definitely not stressed in any way. I am not under any pressure. I am not depressed. I eat extremely healthy! I am gluten, sugar, corn, soy, milk free diet. I see a functional medicine doctor regularly. I am prediabetic and have increased levels of insulin and cortisol. I am confused and frustrated because I don t understand why I have these symptoms: fatigue, light headiness, dizziness, head feels hot and heavy. I am NOT stressed!!!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are 2 different diagnosis you described: Adrenal fatigue ( that means low cortisol levels) and increased level of cortisol. If you have adrenal failure, you need to adjust the dose of hydrochortisone according to the symptoms. The symptoms you reported mean that the dose you are taking is not the right one. You should discuss with your treating physician about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
