What Causes Elevated Heart Rate?

My husband s heart rate is running over 100bpm which is extremely unusual. He is 71 years old. Resting heart rate is normally in the 60=s. He exercise this morning and his heart rate rose to 160. It Has been staying just over 100 at great and higher when he starts moving. should we be concerned? He has no history of heart conditions. He does not have High Blood Pressure. Drugs: 40mg simvastatin

If this is the true tachycardia then it is matter of concern and it has to be seen by cardiologist, heart rate more than 75 beats per minute needs to be looked for underlying cause and for that EKG and ECHO study is much, such case of tachycardia can not be left untreated but it demands the investigations for cured.
