Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Lately my heart has been beating faster than normal and it feels like something is tugging on it. Sometimes it leads to a weird tingly sensation inside my body almost like I ve been electrocuted. It takes a while to go away and I have to move my body to calm down a little. While this is happening, thoughts of passing out or having a seizure comes into mind. I never had one of them but it somehow pops up into my train of thought. Once, I was trying to get some sleep and my whole body felt heavy. I couldn t move my hands and everything I heard was muted. I was terrified. I eventually got my body to work again but I kept overthinking which caused for a restless night. I asked my school nurse about it as she says it might be anxiety; however, it doesn t feel like it. I don t know much about anxiety and anxiety attacks so I m not sure if I m at the right place to say if it is or is not so that is why I m asking for your help. Please answer as soon as possible. Thank you.
Hi, welcome to HCM, You may be getting frequent attacks of SVPT--supra ventricular paroxysmal tachycardia. Another possibility is MVP--mitral valve prolapse.
Both these conditions should be ruled out before we think that anxiety is the cause of your fast heart rate. Regards
