I have been taken a course of Flucloxacillin 500mg which I started Friday evening could this be a side effect of the tablet ? I have high blood pressure and take medication for this ! hi
i have understood your concerns. 159/96 is a high blood pressure. but to confirm and start you on antihypertensives it is actually better to wait and take 2 more readings, as sometimes your b.p may be falsely high due to various reasons, such as anxiety, any other medication, smoking jus a little before taking a reading or taking any caffinated drinks. if 2-3 b.p readings are on differant occassions are persistantly high. then it is safe to diagnose hypertension and start you on the anti hypertensive medication. Flucloxacillin usually does not cause hypertension as a side effect. I advice you to follow up regularly with your physician regarding your b.p measurements, as he could adjust the dose according to the b.p.

please do follow a regular excersice such as a brisk walk everymorning for atleast 30 mins.
restrict salt intake and avoid oily fried food.
avoid pickled food.
these are actually very effective measures in reducing hypertension, and therefore will decrease the dosage of your medicine substantially.

thank you
wish you a speedy recovery.!
