What Causes Elevated Haemoglobin Levels And Leucocytosis In Blood?
Hi there I have just received blood work back I ve been feeling unwell now for a few months my white cell count is normal but my dr said and the bloodwork says I have mild leucocytosis and raised haemoglobin and haematocrit what types of things health wise could cause this ? I also don t eat meat so raised haemoglobin as well is s little confusing
These findings could have many causes, including diseases affecting the bone marrow. However, if you haven't been drinking many fluids lately, I would suspect this could be from dehydration, which often does cause the blood counts to be increased (because the concentration goes up when there is less water in the body). I would suggest checking your blood again after you have hydrated well, and see if that makes a difference.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
