Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am around 60, a retired airline personnel. I never had high blood sugar but sometime in the border but could be diet controlled as per doctor. But about 3 months back I had lost weight by about 10k and reduced my waist measurement too. When checked, the blood sugar was above 500 and I became scary. But since medication is a must which I wanted to avoid, I started walking and stopped sugar and sweet completely from my diet. Later when checked, I found the sugar level (FBS) higher than 300 and again after a few weeks it was found to be 224. What could be the reason for the abnormal rise and fall in blood sugar. During this period I was going through some tension too.
As you are diagnosed as diabetes. Your sugar level are on higher side though you are on medication. Cause for that may be sugar not controlled by oral medication. Kindly check HbA1c. You may require insulin as per report. Follow diabetic diet after consultation with dietician. Consult with diabetologist for good control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
