What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels, Hypersomina, Anorexia And Vomiting?

My mom is 85 with adult-onset diabetes for which she takes Metphormin. Her BS has been stable at around 100 until the past week, when it rose to the 148-158 range. She has recently begun sleeping a LOT, eats very little, has no appetite, has vomited some, and is somewhat confused. We know she has early signs of dementia. She has had in the last couple of months pain in the legs and arms which we believe to be neuropathy and for which she was put on Lirica. Our plan is to have her checked by the local internal medicine group, although she routinely sees her family doctor. What particular questions/concerns should we address?
