I am a 64 y/o male and have been on Risperidone for over 15 years for bipolar disorder. Over the last several years I have been having unexplained elevation of my blood sugar, difficult to control and unwanted movements of my hands and face, tremor and now, breast symptoms with some lumps and pain but no redness or nipple discharge. I stopped the medicine under physician guidance over a 2 month period of time. The abnormal movements were very pronounced making doing anything with my hands and arms unpredictable and to the point I didn t want to go out in public. Then, my hypomania returned with a vengeance. I have restarted the risperidone and those symptoms are better. I was put on Lamictal to help with the abnormal movements without improvement. My psychiatrist of 15 years has retired and, though my family doctor is wonderful, he seems stumped as to how to proceed from here. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.
