General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello I have read through your question and can understand your concern. 168/98 BP is quite high but it can be controlled by proper medications. I would suggest you to get a complete blood profile including sodium potassium level. Also get your Blood urea nitrogen profile done to know if your kidney s are functioning properly. We have to first diagnose if your hypertension is age related due to hardening of arteries or there is any other reason to it. Also I would suggest a lipid profile . There are many hypertensives available which will be prescribed by your physician depending on the above reports. These antihypertensive s will help to bring down your Blood pressure and mostly have no side effects. A hypertensive can be chosen for which suits you the best. I hope that answers your question. If you want to ask any other questions please feel free to write. stay healthy.
