What Causes Elevated Alkaline Phosphatase Levels?

Hi, my Alkaline Phosphatase is at 161 and it says it should be no higher than 129. On the same examination, my doctor also said that I have a slight Iron deficiency so I am not taking pills once a day. Any extreme concern about my Liver? I am going for a retest in 4 weeks.

Hi,

Alkaline phosphatase may also rose fro other reason. And it's not too high. This may occur even with low vitamin D as well.

If you other liver test (Alt, Bilirubin) are normal and you don't have any yellow discoloration of eyes, then you should not worry about this alkaline phosphatase. Recheck it in a few weeks, I hope this will be normal.

I would also suggest taking some vit D and calcium supplements, as well as this enzyme, may rise with its deficiency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
