My May 12 labs came back with 11.4 WBC and 11.1 Creatinine. My doctors prescribed a cipropak for a probable bladder infection. I don t have any symptons. Looking at my Jan labs my WBC was the same 11.4 and my creatinine was 1.23. I doubt that I ve had an infection for four months. What other possible causes would elevate these two numbers?
Hello, a bladder infection will not usually increase white blood cells or creatinine. I guess your creatinine level was not 11.1 (!!!) but 1.11 instead (in mg/dL). Your creatinine level depends on your kidney function and musculature. 1.23 is not that high if you're muscular but I can't tell since you've not given enough information. WBC elevation can appear for several reasons. Most of them involve inflammation or infection, it may have to do with drugs (corticosteroids mostly), hematologic diseases etc. I don't know why your doctor assumed you're having a bladder infection because you haven't told us whether you had symptoms or not, if you had other test done (urinalysis?) etc You can't speculate on possible diagnoses based on WBC and creatinine measurements only. It's impossible. If you'd like you can ask again, stating your symptoms and the full range of tests you've done. Kind Regards!
