What Causes Elevated TSH Levels While On Thyroxine?

I am a hypothyroid patient on sodium tablets since last 2 yrs. Till 6 months back my TSH levels were normal and I was on 50mg thyroxin tablets. I did my last check up in Dec 2010 and my levels were T3 0.80, T4 62.92 and TSH 38.58. I was advised to increase dosage to 100mg. Please advise if I need to increase the dosage further? Also what is the reasons for the level rising again?

Hello. The increase in your TSH could only mean that you still lack enough thyroid hormones and your current dose of 50mcg of Levothyroxine is not adequate. You need to increase the dose because your body is not making enough thyroid hormones.
