What Causes Elevated TSH Levels After A Miscarriage?

Hie I m yukti 5months before i had 3 months miscarriage. During this pregnancy my tsh was 3.5 2 months back i had my tsh 5.42. I had irregular periods problem coz of this i had undergone thyroid check. T3 and T4 came normal but tsh level was high.Today after taking 25mg thyronorm for 2 months my tsh level is 2.59. My doctor has asked me to continue with 25mg till i plan next pregnancy.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
One thing what you need to understand is that miscarriage has happened as a result of high TSH levels and not the other way around.
Since your T3 and T4 levels are normal and only TSH component is elevated, it can be categorised into 'subclinical hypothyroidism'.
By taking the prescribed medication, if you keep the TSH levels under normal limits, it would improve your chances of conceiving as well as minimise the chances of miscarriage.
Also, after conceiving, you need to continue with medication and keep a constant check to keep TSH, T3 and T4 levels within normal limits, as alteration of which would affect pregnancy as well as growing fetus.
Kindly follow the instructions as given by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
