What Causes Elevated ALT Levels?
Hi Sir.... My name is Darren 41.yrs old. 68kgs... Non smoker but Heavy drinking about 2-3nights consecutive per week. Been monitoring my blood test results for the past 10 years. Everything was alright ex the recent one where my lipids n alt ( just alt) reading were high. Nil hepatitis..... Or any abdomen pain. Attached is my blood test results. Should I be worried about? Tq sir n his bless you. Total cholesterol 6.0mmol/l Hdl 1.6 Ldl 3.6 Tc/hdl 3.8 TG 2.15 LFT Bilirubin 20 umol/l Ast 36 Alt 77 Alp 62 Ggt 34 RFT Creatinine 54 umol/ l The rest are within the normal range.

The bilirubin is hard to know without the laboratory normal values. If you say JUST the ALT, then it is a bit unlikley there is anything seriously wrong. Liver enzymes can double normal values quite easily. Serious problmes tend to be much higher values and certainly more than one test. It oculd be repeated in 1 to 3 months to see that nothing bad happened.
