What Causes Electric Shock Like Sensations In The Thumb?

I have what I think is a pinched nerve in my thumb. I experience what is like a shock when the interior thumb gets pressed against anything. The tip of the thumb is numb now. Is there anything that can be done and is there any home treatment for this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. I have seen many cases with similar complaints. Please find my advice below-:
1)Take B-12 injection 4 times weekly upto one month then one injection every month
2)Do check your hand by bending for one minutes(Reverse Pranam) if you find tingling pain sensation or not?It is to ruled out carpal tunnel syndrome
3)First do conservative management with Steroid if failed do surgical treatment for decompression of nerve.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you all the best.
Thanks,
I find this answer helpful
