What Causes Edema In The Legs While On Diuretics?

After using diuretics for body building last week. I am now back to drinking water and eating regularly but yesterday my feet and legs started to swell now it seems my whole body is also. Is this because I was not drinking water and now I am or should I go to the doctor.

Hello,
You must understand that diuretic is never intended to be used for weight loss or exercise purposes. Many use diuretic as a quick means to weight loss but it might have devastating effects.

Diuretics work by making your kidney to excrete more water, when you take this drug on a normally functioning kidney it can cause kidney to function abnormally.

Please consult a physician at the earliest if you had used it for a long time to check renal function. Edema in the legs can be due to an acute injury to the kidney.

It is for a reason they have classified diuretics as an abused or doping or performance enhancing agent.
