What Causes Edema In The Body At Higher Altitudes?

Hi. I ski out west, base altitude 8,000 feet. Summit 11,000 feet. I go one week a year. I watch what I eat an ski very agressively. Every year I come home bloated with a 5 lb. weight gain. I m now 63 years old and about to go skiing in a few weeks. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening. I know Diamox is useful for altitude sickness, though I don t think I really have this problem, other than expected mild shortness of breath in the first few days.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, the only best way is to cut down the calorie and have some exercise which burn lot of calorie prior to ski or you have to see the dietician who expert in altitude dieting hope this information helps.
