What Causes Earache Along With Tinnitus?

Hello I went to urgent care today because I felt a pop in my ear when I coughed in the middle of the night, I had horrible pain and lost hearing along with high pitched ringing. Urgent care told me it was ruptured ear drum and gave me amoxicillin. However the side of my face is and ear are numb and my head is so cloudy I can t think straight or talk right. I m nauseous and my stomach hurts. Is this normal with ruptured ear drum? Should they have given me sudafed for fluid in my ear as well? Thank you. I m miserable.

Hi,

I think you should have ruptured your eardrum as per your description. Nausea and dizziness also are its symptoms.

You can use Sudafed for congestion but also can use antihistamines such as Benadryl or Cetirizine and corticosteroid such as Prednisone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
