What Causes Ear Congestion?

I am experiencing clogging sensation in my left ear. It is intermittent and seems to be relieved by lowering my Head between my legs but returns when I stand up straight again. Some days it happens for a couple of hours at work and sometimes not at all. Rarely experience it when not at work. I work in food/bar industry

Hi.
Thanks for the query..

Clogged sensation in ear is most commonly due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum.
It can cause blocked Eustachian tube causing blocked sensation..

It can be due to Infection in ear, severe cold and post nasal drip, sinus Infection etc..

So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room or an ENT Physician and get evaluated..

An ear examination can be done to rule out the exact cause..

For now you can start using decongestant nasal drops as it can help in unclogging the ears..
Do steam inhalation..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
