What Causes Dryness In The Eyes After Taking Diuretic Pills?
I need to take a diuretic but the one I am taking now, (1/2 pill of Maxide) is causing serious drying of my eyes. I tried taking microzide but gained 6 pounds in five days. The interesting part was that I was able to see crisply and clearly while I took this 12.5 mg. of microzide. I clearly need to take a diuretic. But, my vision is being obscured by dryness of my eyes (per my ophthalmologist and by optometrist). What diuretic would you recommend that would keep enough fluid in my system to relieve the dry eye syndrome but also remove extra fluid in my system?

You have not mentioned the reason you are taking diuretics. Is it for blood pressure, renal problems or cardiac ailments? Anyway, there is no specific diuretic which may or may not cause dryness of eyes, but if that is an issue then you could use eye drops like refresh tears twice a day to prevent the symptoms and wear your glasses regularly if prescribed, also avoid glaring in the phone, laptop and TV.
