What causes dry, thick, scaly and itchy rashes around vaginal area?

I have had a rash on the outer parts of my vaginal area for two months. At first it seemed like any old ordinary yeast infection so I called my gynecologist and he called out a prescription for it. It seemed to get better, but now it is very dry, thick, scaly, and itchy around the vaginal area. It is worse in the creases between my legs and vagina area. I have tried several over the counter vaginal creams. It will seeminly get better and then worsens again. What could it possibly be?

Hi

Your symptoms could occur due to vaginal dryness or inflammatory conditions such as vaginitis or genital psoriasis.Since your symptoms are severe with thick and scaly rashes, genital psoriasis is more likely to be the cause.

You need to use moisturiser regularly to reduce the dryness induced scaling and flaking.Applying moisturiser twice a day will reduce extreme dryness.

You may need treatment with mild corticosteroid or calcitriol ointment.Kindly visit your dermatologist for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
