What Causes Dry Mouth Despite Taking Steroids And Antibiotics?

I have had dry mouth symptoms for a month now. My dentist could not find evidence of any infection although he had done a filling about a week before the symptoms hit. I went to an ENT specialist who treated me for salivary glands being swollen, inflamed, with some signs of inflammation in my ear.He prescribed steroids for four days and antibiotics for a week. That series ended about ten days ago. Things are a bit better but I still have some dry mouth. Is this just a question of time?

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.
As far as the dryness and pain is concerned, it can be secondary to any stone or blockage in the salivary gland duct.
Nothing to be panic, consult an oral physician and get it evaluated. You need to get an ultrasound and sialography done to confirm the diagnosis. once the diagnosis is confirmed we can treat accordingly. Mean while you can take a course of artificial salivary substitute like carboxy methyl cellulose. Keep sipping water.
I hope I have answered your query. Take care.
