Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was switched from Cyclafem 1/35 to Necon 1/35. I was on Cyclafem for 9 months and never had an issue. As soon as I started taking Necon, I developed a wickedly dry mouth. Could this be related to going from generic to name brand? I am unaware of any underlying health conditions, and this is the only change I have had. Thank you.
As per your query Cyclafem and Necon both are oral contraceptives and both contains similar active ingredients and in same composition but at times generics does not deliver the equivalent amounts of drugs as compared to the commercial branded products, therefore as you switched to branded drugs there might be increased dosage and it is leading to dry mouth.. You should consult your Gynaecologist and get evaluated and if required she can advise you to take the generic drug again..
As of now for relieving dry mouth you can chew tart candies, sugar free chewing gums as they stimulate saliva flow.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
