Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 29 yr old female. Healthy for the most part. I exercise 4-5 days a week eat 2-3 small meals a day. For the past two weeks I ve experience my lips really dry like I ate a spoon full of salt and I don t know why? I had ly last physical about a year ago.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dry lips which seems to be due to drooling of saliva and licking of lips with tongue which remove natural moisture of lips and make them cracked. It could also occur due to bacterial or fungal infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to drink plenty of water and apply vitamin E oil at night. Apply lip balm throughout the day to retain moisture and apply lip balm having SPF 30 .Eat green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. You can also start honey usage. If condition persists for more than a week or get worse consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis so that doctor can rule out any infection.Doctor may prescribe oral/topical antibiotics or anti fungal depending upon the condition.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
