What Causes Drunk Feeling Even With Little Alcohol?

Hello,
I am a 27 year old male, 6'0 and about 230 lbs. As far as I am aware I have no medical conditions and I take no medications. My mother though, is diabetic. The other day I went out for some drink with friends. We went out at 5pm to the usual pub and I had my usual pitcher of light beer, taking about 90 mins to drink it. I then went home, and called a cab to the hockey game. We got into the hockey game and I ordered 2 glasses of beer and we found our seats as the first period was starting (now just after 7pm) By the time the first period, and those 2 beers were done, I was nearly black out drunk and the rest of the night was not good. I may in fact lose my job over it. What I don't understand is how I got so drunk so fast. The next night, I had less to each (just a bowl of soup all day) and drank more in a shorter period of time and I was absolutely fine, remember everything. I'm scared about losing my job and I don't know how I am supposed to control getting drunk when one night, I hardly drink anything and I was out of control, the next night I drank a lot more and was absolutely fine. Please help

4 to 6 beers is quite a lot and would often make people drunk.
OTHER FACTORS. about 10 to 50% of alcohol is digested normally before it even gets in. This is changed by many factors (empty stomach means you get more drunk faster. some things like grapefruit juice gum up the digestion and increase alcohol absorption). Liver disease can have the same effect but I've only seen that in people who knew they were very very sick. Lots of other medications interact with alcohol and make people drunk (valium, narcotics, muscle relaxants, heck maybe even aspirin like drugs). Diseases (DIABETES) can also interact. Other diseases than diabetes would interact by making you impaired a bit all the time. diabetes can just get your metabolism really messed up some of the time depending on other sugar you've ingested. GLUCOSE TOLERANCE test and blood work for metabolism and liver functions would help.
