Over the last week i have noticed i am feeling very sleepy and weak. Although i would sleep at night 8 hours i would still sleep most of the day too. i have found myself sleeping 17 hour days out of pure fatigue. I really feel like something could be wrong, any ideas? Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question! As about your concern i would suggest you some possible diagnoses that should be confirmed or ruled out. An under-funcion of the thyroid gland is one the most common causes of fatigue and feeling sleepy. At your age hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto thyroiditis is very common. To confirm it you need to do the thyroid hormonal level (TSH,FT4 and FT3). Vit D deficiency would be another probable cause of fatigue, as we are at the end of winter and have been not exposed too much to the sun. The level of Vit D25OH can be examined and if low, treatment is recommended. Anemia would be another common cause of your symptoms. So a full blood count, thyroid hormones and Vit D level are the recommended examinations at your case. Hope i have been helpful.
