What Causes Double Vision In The Eye After Cataract Surgery?

My Mom who is 88 years old had cataract surgery on her left eye about 3 weeks ago. She has double vision in her left eye after the surgery. She went and got her new prescription glasses today and is still seeing double. She had her right eye done about 6 years ago and had no issues from start to finish. I have read many articles written by Opthamologists who state that the double vision is caused by the surgery and may need prism glasses or eye muscle surgery to repair the problem. What would you suggest my mother does at this time? By the way, my mother is in fantastic shape for her age and very active. She still exercises on her stationary bike at home and loves gardening. However, she is very frustrated with the double vision. Would love your advice.

You have to see the double vision is for one eye or both the eyes when open together. It may be annisometropia by opening two eyes.If the corrected vision s different more than 2.5 then there will be diplopia. So get the refraction of both the eyes again.See the corrected vision in both the eyes are same or differance is not more than 2.5.Remember one thing after cataract surgery your mother has lost accomodation and binacularity. So the doctor by giving this correction should look into these problems. It may be your mother will take some time to adjust for use of specs.
