What Causes Dizzy Spell?

Hi, I have had dizziness, headache, tingling in the fingers, shaking hands and have been collapsing for the past 2 weeks.I have been assuming that it is an inner ear problem. However the symptoms are worse in the morning and by the evening hardly there. The dr prescribed some medication to stop the dizzy spell but it didn t make a difference, however since I went back the Dr has put me on Sibelium 5mg once before bedtime. I felt better and could even leave the house. I took them for 2 nights but then had an allergic reaction to I assume the NSAID that was also prescribed. I stopped both tabs and the symptoms returned. I took the Sibelium again last night but don t feel so good today. Normally I am in very good health, exercise regularly and have a normal bmi. I don t have a history of any long term illness and normally don t take any medication. I wondered what your opinion is and why I seem to get better in the evening? I can t decided whether I should see a neuro or ent specialist?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have dizzy spell . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection, certain medications and due to cervical spondylosis, meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and migraines . Sibelium is calcium channel blocker if doctor has put you on this drugs , you should not stop it without consultation with doctor . For now take steam thrice a day ,avoid bending forward, take proper rest and drink green tea with ginger thrice a day. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , posturography , blood test and CT scan . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like gentamycin at least for a week along with antiemetic drug , decongestant and expectorant .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
