What Causes Dizziness While On Istamet For Diabetes?

Hai, My mother is 58 years old suffering from Type II diabetes. Recently a diabetologist prescribed T-Istamet 50 g. The doctor has advised to take the tablet half an hour before the meal. My mom took the tablet before meal today. But she felt giddiness and can t even stand normal. My question is, when the istamet tablet has to be taken? Is it before meal or after meal? Please do clarify

Hi!
Based on the history given your mother seems to have developed hypoglycemia (decreased blood glucose level) after taking Istamet before meal.

Istamet Tablet which contains Metformin & Sitagliptin are effective in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

It can be taken with or without food.
