What causes dizziness post pneumonia treatment?

Hello! Recently I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. I took a z pack and began to feel better after a couple weeks. However, now I m experiencing dizziness, loss of balance, and the feeling like I m going to pass out. My sore throat is still present along with the fatigue. Any ideas on what s going on ?

Hello,

Confusion & dizziness is mainly symptoms of older people post pneumonia.

Such symptoms occur due to weakness, dehydration, hypoglycemia, electrolyte imbalance, compromised immune system.

Stay well hydrated & take homemade nutritious food. Take vitamin & iron supplements.

Since you still have a sore throat, you need to visit your treating doctor for a follow-up treatment, You may need a repeat course of antibiotics.

Take adequate sleep, stay away from stress for a better recovery. Avoid spicy, oily junk food. Take whole grain diet, berries, fruits, veggies. Avoid food that is difficult to digest. Avoid addictions (smoking. nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, etc) if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
