What Causes Dizziness, Headache And Abdominal Pain Post Intake Of An Ice Cold Drink?

Good evening. I have a question. (I am 53.) Just a short while ago I drank an ice cold drink (colder than ice cream) and I started to feel faint. My head hurt and so this my stomach. I became very uncomfortable, agitated and even angry (so not me) and I was sure I was having a heart attack. I even became delirious and nearly passed out. This lasted for about two minutes. What do you think happened? Thank you for your time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
It could be vaso-vagal syncope. As ice chilled drink might have stimulated vagus nerve in your oral cavity and caused overstimulation of it and slowing your heart rate thereby decreasing blood suppy to your brain.
Don't worry just avoid rapid consumption of very cold drinks.
Hope it would help you in future.
Regards.
