What Causes Dizziness And Nausea While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

This morning I arose at 6 a.m. and attended a meeting where I ate 4 fresh strawberries, coffee with 1/2 and 1/2 and 2 packets of sugar and a small oat type bagel with a packet of cream cheese. After approximately 20 minutes I began to feel faint and then nauseous. I excused myself and went to the restroom to recover, which I did in 5 - 10 minutes. I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic and take Synthroid for hypothyroidism, .75 mg. This is the third time this has happened under these same circumstances over several months.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It would be good if it was possible to check your blood sugar and blood pressure during these episodes. If you have access to any of these machines then you can consider having them with you to check to see if there are any changes.

The glucometer, to check blood sugar, is very small and can fit even in a person's pocket. A blood pressure machine may be a bigger challenge, however.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
