What Causes Dizziness And Hearing Loss?

Periodically I experience moments of dizziness where I can t even feel my own weight or a sense of gravity. At this moment I also lose partial hearing and can only hear sounds that are very close and even those seem to sound as if they are an echo under water. I have no sense of direction and can t feel which way is up or down. I have no feeling of movement even if in a traveling vehicle. I feel as though I am floating in space. Usually, these episodes last only a few seconds and disappear instantly with no after effects. I just recently experienced one of these episodes but this time, it lasted for several minutes. I m not sure how long exactly. In those several minutes, I also found out that I struggled to speak. I tried to answer a concerned friend but my words only came out as mumbling. After it passed I continued to feel slightly dizzy and I had the feeling that warm water was in the back of my head and was draining down my neck. This is the only time this has happened for this long a time. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Tom

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness and hearing loss. Well sometimes infection occurs due to reasons like meniere's disease , local or generalized alteration in blood pressure , inner ear infection. Sometimes hearing loss occur due to ear drum rupture . You should not touch or prick ear with any sharp instrument. You should maintain cleanliness of area. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper diagnosis. Doctor will examine with otoscope , order CT scan, hearing loss tests and MRI. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory medications and antiemetic drug .
