Hello,
Diverticulitis is a condition where out-pouchings (diverticula) of your colon become inflamed and infected. typically diverticula are caused by constipation, diverticulitis is caused by stool or food blocking the blood flow to the out pouchings and causing inflammation and infection. The things to do to avoid diverticulitis are make sure you don't get constipated (drink lot of fluids and good fiber intake), make sure you get a colonoscopy to evaluate the rest of your colon. There is not much else to prevent recurrent attacks besides the above. Thank you
