What Causes Disturbed Sleep?

I am waking up about every hour at night. I do have BPH, but much of the time I have only a little urine. This has been getting worse and now when I try to nap during the day, sometimes I wake up after only 30 minutes. I do not believe I have sleep apnea, but am scheduled for a sleep study. Could some level of heartburn, which I sometimes have, but does not seem to be serious be a major factor, and what is the best way for me to proceed?

Hello
Welcome to HCM.

You have mentioned that you have disturbed sleep. You also have BPH.

At first instance, your disturbed sleep appears to be due to your BPH problem. Due to BPH, you have to get up frequently for urination. BPH causes increased frequency of uribation and sense of incomplete emptying.

I suggest you to visit a general surgeon or urologist for the treatment of BPH. Once this is resolved, your sleep will improve.

If need be, you can take some sleep inducing agent like ativan or rivotril.

Also, quit smoking, alcohol, if you do.

Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
