What Causes Discomfort In Neck While Swallowing?

Hi I have notice tht at evening time and early moring I have slight discomfort in my neck when swallowing. Almost liike a muscle ache. This has been going on for a couple weeks. I have had a slight cold with and ear ache at times as well. I am mostly concerned if this could be cancer!

Hi..Can understand your concern..As per your query about painful swallowing...It canbe due to pharyngitis or tonsillitis due to infection as you have mentioned that you had cold and an ear ache..The spaces of mouth,nose,ear are inter linked through which infection can travel sometimes..So you shouldn't worry and check for any lump or swelling..Don't suspect for cancer straight away. Some times there is lymphnode swelling which causes painful swallowing which is also due to infection .I advice you to do do hot saline rinses and take antibiotics like Azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 3days at least. You can also suck lozenges like strepsils for soothing the throat.If not relieved by this you should consult a physician to rule out any other pathology.I hop the information helps you.You are welcome for any further query on HCM.Take care.
