What Causes Discolouration Of Lips While Using Dentures?

My husband uses Fixodent to keep his Dentures in place. Since he's had Dentures they never fit properly, so he uses Fixodent to help. Since then his lips has turned into this reddish pinkish color. He is a black male, and that is not his natural color of his lips. At first the swelling and pinkish was hurting. What can he use to get back to his natural colored lips.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if after using Fixodent denture adhesive there has been swelling and redness of lips, it is clear indication that he is getting allergic to any of the components of the adhesive and needs to stop using it for the effect of the adhesive to wean off..

This will help in bringing the colour of lips to normal and will also resolve the swelling..

Another information that I would like to give you is that denture adhesive is not a permanent solution for loose dentures and your husband's dentures needs repair..
Consult a Prosthdontist and get evaluated and if possible relining or rebasing his dentures can improve the fitting..
If not possible then fabricating new dentures will help..
He can also go for flexible dentures as it will help in improving the fit..
