Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If your prostate is extremely tender, it indicates prostatitis and antibiotic treatment should be initiated. Difficulty in urination and frequency can be caused by an enlarged prostate that obstructs urine flow. This can be assessed by a prostate exam, and if indicated, measurement of PSA. Your symptoms could also indicate a urinary tract infection, or a 'flaccid' bladder, which can be a result of anti-cholinergic drug use, diabetes, or neurological conditions. A thorough medical history and urine flow analysis may be indicated.
