What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

Often I have difficulty swallowing at the base of my throat and when drinking liquid sometimes some of it goes up to sinuses, I think I have fluid in my right ear because a few days ago I had tenderness to the touch just in front of my ear. I have constant ringing in my ears. I have had the ringing in the ears for several years but the doctor found no reason for it, now I have the other symptoms.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and following is the symptomatic approach in your case:

1. Dysphagia [difficulty in swallowing] due to throat pain: This is the commonest type of dysphagia in general practice, occurring due to Acute Tonsillitis, Pharyngitis or Laryngitis check with an ENT doctor to exclude the possibilities [if any] since if after inspecting the throat, it is not congested, one can think of true dysphagia

2. take more of bland, soft diet, more of milk avoiding hot drinks and spicy food, no oily and irritant food.
. steam inhalation2-3 times a day.
. gargle with warm salt water, or wokadine oral solution

PS. If pain and dysphagia do not subside within 1 week, refer for oesophagoscopy and barium swallow

3. If you think of any pathology inside the ear, kindly consult an ENT surgeon for further necessary examination and management
