What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

yes, please. For quite a while I have been experiencing a problem with my throat. Food , drink , meds get stuck often when I swallow them. I also have the sensation of airflow being cut off when I bend my chin to my chest - like trying to read lying down. My throat is scratchy and the canals to my ears ache. My voice is tetting raspier and I sometimes wheeze and have a hacky cough. I have had a endoscopy recently and am waiting for a follow up appointment. I also am dealing with thyroid nodules diagnosis at the same time. Could these be related or just a coincidence?

Hi Dear,

welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have difficulty swallowing . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons , but in your case it seems to me that there i probable two reason for your symptoms :-

Firstly symptoms occur due acid reflux disease , which occur due dysfunction of esophageal sphincter . Due to which the acidic content of stomach come upwards .

Secondly it occur due to tonsillitis or sore throat .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup . Doctor may order throat swab test, blood test or CT scan along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory and anti allergic . Doctor may also recommend tonsillectomy. For now avoid eating spicy and eavy meal specially at night , take light walk after every meal and tale antacid after every meal .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
