What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

my husband is all of a sudden having trouble swallowing - just a normal swallow we all do without thinking. Not when he is eating or drinking, just swallowing without even thinking about it. he says it feels like he just can t finish the swallow and he is unable to breathe until he is able to finish the swallow , This started last night after going to bed, he got up and could not sleep, it got better and he went back to bed. This evening it started up again. What could possibly be wrong???? He is 75 years old and NEVER complains about anything. This has got me worried.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query about your husband.
Noted that he is 75 and never was ill, but has got problem in swallowing.
The probable cause of such a sudden problem in swallowing without any pain or swelling can be:
Neurological and hence you should take him to an ENT to conduct and endoscopy of the laryngo-pharynx to find out the probable cause whether neurological or a mass or something of this sort.
Further treatment will depend upon the cause thus fund.
