What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing?

I had a total knee replacement in April of this year and 3 weeks after my surgery I had a blood clot pass through my heart. Every since I had this it feels like something is stuck in my throat. When I eat I have to vomit. I have had the mobility test done, barium swallowing test done, and my esophagus stretched. They didn t find nothing but a hiatal hernia and they said I have acid reflux. I went to the ER back in June they said it could be throat spasm, but all the test they done says everything is find. But it still feels like something is stuck in my throat. I am 53 years old and weight 198 pounds. I have already lost around 30 pounds. I also have thyroid problems. They put me on medicine for heart spasms. I asked them if the problem I had back with the blood clot passing through my heart could have caused this and they said no but that is when all this started. Please help me.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of knee surgery, blood clot passing through your heart and then developing the difficulty in swallowing and the feeling of a lump in the throat.
Since all the tests of endoscopy, barium and all are normal this is necessarily due to the GERD due to hiatal hernia.
Another possibility is this may be just a psychological one and you need the treatment for your anxiety and stress and you shall be fine.
Get the throat once checked under General anesthesia and MRI of the area to see there is no occult cancer or so.
