What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing And Throat Irritation?

Hello. I had my tonsils out a while ago and I just noticed it hurt to swallow. I looked in my throat where my tonsils were and on one side, there was a white patch and you can tell it s irritated. It s right on the scar where my tonsil was. Could you tell me what it could possibly be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the white patch is a bacterial infection of the tonsils (angina). I think should consult further with ENT specialist as you might need prescription meds. Meanwhile, should :

- gargle with warm water and salt
- keep good oral hygiene
- increase fluids intake.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
