What Causes Difficulty During Urination After Kidney Dialysis?
My father is having urinary problems for the past four months. It started after he had a heart arrhythmia and was treated with angioplast and kidney dialysis. Will it be the side effect of kidney dialysis ? Or prostate gland issues since he is 66.Or water intake ( since its been reduced to 2 litre per day bcos of dialysis) Now, the nephrologist had prescribed magnex injection for 7 days ( 2 per day). Are we in the correct direction or a second opinion is needed ?
During dialysis a special machine replace the kidneys in filtering waste from the bloodstream. This may reduce the daily urine output that a person normally produces because as the blood is filtered during dialysis, fluid is removed, thus reducing the kidneys' traditional role. This is the cause why your father have reduced urination since he started dialysis.
Achieving and maintaining higher magnesium levels may improve the cardiovascular prognosis and be a helpful strategy to reduce phosphate load (caused by dialysis), which has been linked to cardiovascular disease of hemodialysis patients. This can be the cause why the nephrologist have prescribed magnesium supplement. I think your father had the right treatment for his kidney and heart conditions.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
