What Causes Diarrhoea, fever, dizziness And Abdominal Cramps?

I have sickness and diarrhea. I have returned two days ago from an event where several people were taken ill with what was thought food poisoning. I have watery diarrhea that smells like rotten fish, cramps, slight fever, dizzyness, slight convulsions. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms are caused by gastrointestinal infection indeed. It can be viral (most often) or bacterial.
If you have any blood in stool, mucus in stool, diarrhea lasts longer than 48 hours, stool test should be done and antibiotic prescribed as bacterial infection is possible.
Otherwise just rest, start probiotic, avoid any solid foods and drink plenty of liquids.
It should go away in a day or two.

Regards.
