What Causes Diarrhea And Nausea Post Appendectomy?

My daughter had an appendectomy 10 days ago. Laproscopic with no complications or anything. Was home that day. For three days she has had diarrhea, lower left abdominal tenderness, and now nausea and says she doesn t feel well. She s in college, so I haven t seen her and am trying to figure out if she needs to be seen. Worried about C diff. Thanks

Sometimes it is common to have loose stools and nausea after surgery.Laproscopic surgery do result in abdominal cramps and anaesthesia can keep on giving the feelings of nausea.Taking antibiotics after surgery causes loose motions.C.difficle is not very common in young.But as your daughter is experiencing the symptoms for four days,she must be drained and feeling ill.I would recommend you to giver her flagyl or metronidazole thrice a day.Flagyl may also sometimes causes nausea in few people so also give her stemetil or Prochlorperazine along it.maintain her proper diet and give her plenty of fluids in form of juices.Let her take rest for a day or more.But if the symptoms worsen or persist for another day even after taking flagyl,take her to the doctor you have been seeing previously.He may run a few tests after complete check up.
