What Causes Diarrhea And Headaches While On Metformin?

hi my daughter is 16yrs and just being diagnosed with PCOS so was precribed metformin 500g up to twice a day for 3months but became slightly spaced out feeling somedays also diarrhea and headache. It did help her lose weight which seems to be important to reduce PCOS symptoms. After 3 months the Dr has stopped the metformin and has now put her on genette 84 which has activated her period which was heavy and painful also weight gain has started. My question is ;what is more important ? control the insulin resistant as main priority to lessen PCOS symptons so she has regular periods or to take ginnet 84 to get regular periods .Is it one or the other or both meds that are necessary?
